Shifting to Spring, Chicago and New York Market Trips & Winter Clearance

Hi there,How are you? How’d it get to be the first of March already? Where did February go? Where did winter go?February was a busy month for sure. It started with a trip to Chicago on the 3rd for the Chicago Men’s Collective, a great show that features offerings for next Fall/Winter. Normally I fly out Sunday, the day after the Klondike Dog Derby, and scramble to get to see all of my suppliers, as the show ends on Tuesday. This year, with the cancellation of the Klondike, I was able to get there Saturday which meant I could see all of my trusted Brightwater brands, and have time to search out new lines. I found a few...

Big Sky Montana Ski Trip, Rob & Ryan DeLena, Bode Miller

How are you? What’s up with this weather?!? Officially 88°F on Wednesday? Not saying that I don’t like it, but it is a little bit much. I like to ease into the warmer temps. But I’m enjoying them, and I suspect all of us are. (I guess I’m a true Minnesotan, as the weather is often the first thing I talk about!)It was a week ago Wednesday that we got back from our trip to Big Sky, MT, where we visited my girls! We had such a great time! I’m really proud of them and their partners for truly making a difference in Big Sky. They all have have successful professional careers, are completely off of my payroll, and now (as...

Saylorsburg, Penn + NY Women's Market for Fall '23

Surviving the snowstorm? I’m sitting at the table at my friend Tim’s house outside of Saylorsburg, PA. Tim and I both went to Macalester about a thousand years ago. Together we moved to Vail about two weeks after graduation. Tim didn’t know how to ski. He learned fast! I’m grateful for our longtime friendship! We had planned this chance to get together to spend time at his country house a month or so ago.  (His primary home is on Roosevelt Island, in the East River between Manhattan and Queens, NY.) The initial plan was to go skiing for a day at one of the ski resorts here in the Poconos. Unlike Minnesota, this area hasn’t seen virtually any snow this winter,...

Brightwater is hiring with $250 sign-on bonus!

How are you? It’s hard to believe that November is right around the corner. With temperatures in the 60’s, it feels more like September. Yet, I've been busily filling up the shop with cold weather apparel! The last few weeks have been nose to the the grindstone at Brightwater. There’s so much new fall and winter product that I’ve barely been keeping up with getting it all out! Lots of new cashmere sweaters for men and women, plus I've got one of the best selection of Parajumpers jackets and parkas than I’ve had in a long time. Brightwater’s fall offering of Bogner has been well received, as have the Barbour collections. Folks have been loving the new Hartford 1979 for men...

NYC & Piled High with New Deliveries

It seems that summer may be sliding away, as the thermometer said 49F this morning. It’s alway a little bittersweet. There were too many things on my summer list that I didn’t get to. It seemed to evaporate this year. Yet, I also can’t help but celebrate the arrival of fall. I love these cool mornings, crisp air, combined with the brilliant colors of the trees. I’m going to make time to get out and enjoy it! We returned Monday night from the Spring/Summer Markets in NYC. It felt much more like summer there! Hot and muggy. We saw some great lines, both new and known! Now comes the hard part of selecting what’s right for Brightwater’s Summer '23 offerings....
